Unfortunately, most writers on such subjects only concentrate on the sport itself and players without exploring other ulterior factors that influence the development of a sport such as the emotional, economic and social environment. The book, Playing for Keeps: A History of Early Baseball by Warren Goldstein is one of the few that have managed to avoid this perennial mistake. This paper is a review of the book,†¦show more content†¦I believe that it would have been better if it had incorporated the contribution of various players and the impact of various particular games in marking landmark achievements in the development of this sport. In conclusion, this paper has reviewed the book Playing for Keeps: A History of Early Baseba ll by Warren Goldstein. It has skimmed through its content and shown how it has managed to achieve its objectives. It has also highlighted the qualifications and experience of the writer as well as the shortcomings of the book. All in all, this is a book which did justice to the history of baseball.
